How to add frequently bought together bundles to your online store

Products bought together learns from your store's orders which items shoppers buy together and shows them as a bundle on the product page, with one total and one button to add everything to the cart. You can build your own bundles too, and they replace the suggestions for that product.

Why bundles raise order value

A shopper looking at a laptop will likely need a bag, a mouse or a keyboard. If they have to find each one on their own, many won't bother. A bundle shows them together under the product, with one total and one button, so adding the set takes a single click.

After the shopper adds the main product to the cart, the bundle can also pop up as a reminder, which catches the moment they have already decided to buy.

How AI bundles are built

The feature learns from your store's orders which products are bought together. The AI Recommendations tab lists each product, what is bought with it, and how strong the link is: Confidence, Support and Lift. Hover over each measure in the dashboard for a short explanation.

Because it learns from orders, a store with few orders has little to show at first. The suggestions appear once customers start buying, so a new store may want to build its first bundles by hand.

When to build your own bundles

Build a bundle when you know what belongs together better than past orders do: a new product with no sales yet, a perfume with its matching body lotion, or groceries that make one recipe. Your bundle always replaces the AI suggestions for that main product.

When you save, you can tick Also show this bundle on each product in it, so every item in the set shows the others. Products that already have their own bundle or a promotion are skipped. For many bundles at once, download the CSV template and upload your file.

Controlling where bundles appear

The product page bundle and the popup are separate switches in the Settings tab, so you can keep one and turn off the other. You can also set the title shoppers see above the bundle.

To hide bundles on a single product, such as a gift card or an item that is sold alone, switch off the bought-together toggle, labelled Show FPT, on that product's row. That product's page then shows no bundle, AI suggestion or popup.

How to set it up

  1. 1In the dashboard, open Products bought together.
  2. 2In the Settings tab, turn on Enable Frequently Bought Together, choose whether to Enable FBT Popup, set the title, and click Save.
  3. 3Review the AI Recommendations tab to see which products are bought together.
  4. 4To build a bundle, open Manual Recommendations and click Add Product Bundle.
  5. 5Select the main product, then select the products bought with it, and save. Tick Also show this bundle on each product in it if you want the bundle on every item.

Common questions

I can't find Products bought together in my dashboard menu. Why?

The menu item appears when your plan includes the feature. It is part of the Professional plan, so the item shows up once your store is on it.

Why is the AI Recommendations list empty?

The suggestions come from your store's orders, so they appear once customers start buying. Until then, you can build bundles yourself in Manual Recommendations.

What happens to the AI suggestions when I create my own bundle?

Your bundle replaces them for that main product. Other products keep their AI bundles.

How is this different from a Complementary recommendation section?

A Complementary section is a row of products the shopper adds one by one. Products bought together shows a bundle with one total and one button that adds the whole set to the cart, and it can pop up after add to cart.
